1) How do I apply for an i*Trade@CIMB online trading account?

Apply online by simply following the instructions and enter your personal particulars as required. Our Call Centre Personnel will assist you in completing the Trading Account Application and any other relevant documents.

2) What is the minimum age to open a trading account?

18 years old.

 
3) If I am a foreign citizen; can I use i*Trade@CIMB online trading services?

Yes, however, you need to comply with any requirements under the Exchange Control Rules and Regulations of Bank Negara Malaysia.

4) What documents are required to be submitted when applying for an i*Trade@CIMB online trading account?
a) Existing Clients
 
  • Acceptance of the Terms & Conditions of i*Trade@CIMB
b) New Clients
 
  • Online Trading Application Form
  • Acceptance of the Terms & Conditions of i*Trade@CIMB
  • Call Warrants Risk Disclosure Statement
  • Form of Disclosure 3.4.3 (7) (a)
  • Letter Of Authorisation (Optional)
  • Memorandum Of Deposit Of Shares
  • Trust Account Application & Authorisation To Accept Faxed Documents
  • 3 certified True Copies of your National Registration Identification Card (NRIC)
  • One of the following documents:
    • Form J/EA for the past three years.
    • Latest three months' salary slip.
    • Latest three months copy of Bank Statement.
 
5) Do I need to open a CDS account to trade online?

Yes, we will open a CDS account for you under CIMSEC Nominees favouring your name as the beneficial owner. CIMB Investment Bank Berhad will provide custodian & nominee services that includes application of rights issue, dividends etc at a nominal fee.

Note: A CDS account opened under a Nominee Company name cannot be used for IPO applications. A charge of RM10.00 is levied by MCD for the opening of the CDS account.

 
6) Will I be assigned a new remisier for i*Trade@CIMB online services?

For New Clients, you will be assigned a licensed dealer representative if you have no preference. For existing CIMB Investment Bank Berhad Clients, you will continue to be serviced by your present licensed dealer representative or remisier if you wish.

 
7) Do I need to be present in person for the application?

You can make an appointment with our Retail Equities Unit Personnel or your licensed dealer's representative at CIMB Investment Bank Berhad to assist you in your application and to witness your signatures. Alternatively, you could get your documentation attested by a Notary Public.

 
8) Can I start trading immediately after submitting my i*Trade@CIMB online trading application and the required documents?

You can only begin trading after your account has been approved by CIMB Investment Bank Berhad and after depositing the required collateral deposit into your Trust Account.

 
9) Do I need to place any minimum deposits?

Yes, a minimum cash deposit of RM1,000 (Ringgit Malaysia One Thousand) is required to open a trading account with us. This cash deposit will be placed in a Trust Account with CIMB Investment Bank Berhad as required by Section 44 of the Securities Industry Act 1983.

 
10) Will my deposit earn interest?

Yes, at prevailing market rates.

 
11) Do I need to furnish a valid email address?

A valid email address is necessary as any future correspondence will be communicated via this specified email address i.e. your User ID, stock alert, forgot password and other relevant notices and announcements.
